Technical data:
SynkoFlex® was tested by the Material Testing Institution in Braunschweig. That is documented through General Test Certificate No. P-6101/9650 MPA-BS issued by the Construction Supervising Authority.
SynkoFlex® sealing tape serves for sealing of construction joints in in-situ concrete against pressurised and non-pressurised water and against soil moisture in accordance with Construction Rules List A, Part 2, Serial No. 1.4.
Tightness test
Water pressure was increased by 0.5 bar steps up to 2 bar with 24 hours retention time, and then by 0.5 bar steps with 48 hours retention time. The test result was the measured water pressure at which still no water escaped on the opposite side. The results are given in the table below:
| Kind of placing |
Pressure / water column |
| Fresh concrete (if expanded) |
1.5 bar / 15.22 m |
| Fresh concrete (if displaced) |
1.5 bar / 15.22 m |
| Hardened concrete (if expanded) |
1.5 bar / 15.22 m |
| Hardened concrete (if displaced) |
4.5 bar / 45.67 m |
| Hardened concrete with primer (no expansion) |
6.5 bar / 65.97 m |
Behaviour in Ca(OH)2 and at high termperature
After 28 days storage in saturated Ca(OH)2 solution or at 60°C ambient air temperature, SynkoFlex® sealing tape did not change its mass, shape or consistency.
Adhesion properties on fresh and hardened concrete (with or without primer)
The adhesion properties were tested on sample strips in different kinds of placement. The respectively determined values are given in the table below. In this case, loads were applied via a steel prop, D = 50 mm, at 10 mm/min speed.
| Kind of placing |
Tensile strength in N/mm² |
Strain at the highest tensile strength in % |
| Fresh concrete |
0.035 |
14.8 |
| Hardened concrete |
0.030 |
17.7 |
| Hardened concrete with primer |
0.029 |
17.6 |
Miscellaneous
Furthermore, SynkoFlex® is tested by means of thermo-gravimetric analysis and infra-red spectrum.

In sophisticated reinforcement, mounting
|

is possible, as well, for any desired shape without problems |

Suitable also for deep foundations |
|

SynkoFlex® saves time and money in large projects |
Suitable also for mounting in precast-component structures, if in-situ concrete is applied later |
In joint areas, no special post-treatment of the concrete surface is needed |
|

In normal house construction, SynkoFlex® seals the construction joints safely |
For vertical joints, SynkoFlex® is mounted onto a shuttering board so that approx. a half
of the sealing tape fastens with the first wall section |

SynkoFlex® is also safe and reliable at extreme conditions, e. g. in erection of a turbine hall of St. Anton Syndication at Arlberg |
Because of high requirements on rational and cost-saving construction processes set by planners and building owners, the number of pre-fabricated structures grows up continuously. This trend cannot be stopped any more, even for special building components. e.g. water-tight structures.
Water pressure tight joints between water-tight precast components can be performed with our RubberNEK® sealing tape in a simple and cost-saving way. However, connection of pre-cast parts to a water-tight in-situ concrete structure will be difficult.
SynkoFlex®, our innovative sealing tape for construction joints in watertight concrete is a solution that not only creates safe sealing but also saves time and money due to its easy processing.
For creating a water perssuer tight joint, SynkoFlex® is already pressed into still fresh concrete at the factory directly, when pre-cast components are being manufactured. During hydration, water-tight bonds are created. Then the pre-cast component is placed on the construction site, and the in-situ concrete structure is simply cast onto it. The created joint is closed by SynkoFlex® tightly against water pressure.
Another particularity is also the functional principle of SynkoFlex®. While other sealing systems are founded on the principle to make the way of the water longer, SynkoFlex® is capable for avoiding seepage from the very beginning. During hydration, SynkoFlex® coalesces with the resulting concrete texture and forms a reliable physical joint with it. Thereby the material maintains its elastiscity for a long time and provides safety in cases of joints expansion and deformation. SynkoFlex has been aready proved in the worldwide construction practice for 35 years.
